Hiking in Israel is unique. The changing landscapes, seasons, and views of the local flora and fauna can be viewed in a global context. However, the rewards of walking the length and breadth of the 'promised land' are all this and more.

Along the mountains and deserts of Israel, wherever you walk, a rich tableau of human history has proceded you.

A considerable proportion of Israel's water sources and landscapehave been shaped and reshaped by the different peoples and cultures that lived in, ruled and trampled over this land. On many sites, bits of ancient pottery are scattered about.

Here the three continents of the old world meet - Asia, Africa and Europe. Not only man expanding teritorial boundaries, has been here and left his mark. Plant and animal life have been alternatively extanding and limiting their habitat throughout. Modern israel's flora and fauna are a blend of many regions, from the savannahs of Africa to the reaches of Asia.the great Syrian-Adrican riff run from the Red Sea, through the Dead Sea region and to Lake Kinneret, the Hula Valley and furthere north. This area has been the geographical doorway for many species on the move north or south.
